Building a house | Making a home
This was such a long time coming, I thought it deserved it’s own post! What a fun, but also challenging season this was. After getting #murried in October of 2019, Sammy P and I lived in the cutest little apartment. The world shut down in March of 2020 and we got to stay in our apartment for 3 very long months lol. So, we decided that after 8 months of living together, it was time to start looking for a home. We moved out after our lease was up in July and moved in with Mama P and Pops; we all thought this would just be for a couple of months. We looked, and looked, and looked, and looked some more, but we just couldn’t find THE ONE. House shopping is hard! Especially when it’s your first time.
Finally, in October, we found a home in the location we were wanting. We made the offer, wrote them a letter, and waited. After 4 long months of looking, things were looking up! Till I got the text saying that we didn’t get it. I was D E V E S T A T E D. Little did I know that God said no because He had something GREATER in store for us. We started looking and touring again, but still, nothing. So then our AWESOME realtor and cousin Leah Mancuso suggested building. There would be no bidding wars, it would be move in ready, and I could customize the heck out of it. We looked into it, prayed about it, cried about it, laughed about it, and then finally, in November of 2020 we decided YES!
THEN came the waiting. What a LONG season. A whole year we waited for our house to be built. We (more so I) would drive by at least 3 times a week to see if there was any progress. Some days things were moving, most days things did not. But we were able to make the most of it. We had countless dinners on our front steps when that’s all there was. Lots of long talks and laying hands while praying over our foundation. Meeting neighbors far long before we moved in. Walking Titus in the neighborhood. Just so many memories before we even got to live there!
Fast forward to November 2021 and THE TIME HAD COME!! Our first house. Our first HOME. Our closest and best people came and helped us move in, and now it’s become my favorite place to be. We have been shown such favor and grace to have been able to build the first home we’ve ever lived in. And we are always praying that it would be a space more so for others than for us. To Him be the Glory forever and ever. Use us and this blessing Lord for your Kingdom!
From picking our lot to pictures I took today , here are some highlights of the building process! Some before and afters. I am just so blown away I could puke lol
